The Fate Resonates in this Preview

March 20th, 2010 -

Started this a few hours after I beat God of War 3. While it’s quite a bit less “RAAAAAAWWWWWWRRRRRRRRRRRRRR ZEEEEEEEEEEUUUUUSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!”, it is a rather decent game.

I’ve been looking forward to this since it was first announced. Not to show any dislike towards the much more publicized Final Fantasy XIII, but I am enjoying this game more just an hour in due to the fact that I get a world map, start in a town, and am able to talk to people. Those factors are what I think of when I think RPG. I don’t want to play the new Final Fight when I pick up an RPG…

Anyway, the setting of the game is beautiful. It’s a steampunk world, filled with dark undertones and religion that is run by a machine. All the fighting consists of handguns, SMGs, and grenades (throw weapons). Leveling up your weapons increases your overall level that determines the amount of HP and weight each character can carry. You are able to customize your weapons by adding different parts to increase/decrease different aspects of the gun’s rate of fire, ammunition, charge time, etc. The fighting is really deep in this game, and it’s taking a lot of time to get used to. If you get it, I suggest playing all the tutorials, or you’ll hate this. Hahaha… Anyway, only just beat the prologue; I’ll update this as I play it more (or just do a separate entry, actually. Maybe my first post in the RPG section I mentioned previously).

Anyone else get it? What are your thoughts?
