The Big Wrap Up: E3 2014 Edition

E3 2014 has come and gone. Once again at the industry’s biggest of the year, a lot of new information was announced. So we’re here to help at FFoP. We follow the news, we report on it, and we have a handy list of most of what went down this year at E3. Hit more to find out exactly that.

Starting this thing off with new information about games that we knew about before the event:

  • Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare was shown at Microsoft’s media briefing. It looks a lot like Titanfall without the mechs, but it has mechs-ish, and it’s in the future! The game will be out on November 4th, 2014.
  • Forza Horizon 2 gets a release date of September 30th, 2014. Will be available for both Xbox 360 and Xbox One.
  • Evolve will have its beta and DLC first on Xbox One. Play as Cthulhu monsters and fight your friends who are trying to kill you. Coming out on October 21st.
  • Assassin’s Creed Unity has 4 player co-op and looks like a refreshing take on the franchise. Will be out on October 28th for everything but Nintendo systems.
  • Dragon Age Inquisition DLC will be first on Xbox 360 and One. Out on October 7th.
  • Sunset Overdrive will have an 8 player co-op mode called Chaos Squad. Allows to team up and go crazy with friends. This game releases on October 28th.
  • Super Ultra Arcade Remix Hyper Edition EX + alpha DLC announced and released for Dead Rising 3. It’s available NOW! So go check it out.
  • Fantasia Music Evolved gets a release date of October 21st.
  • Fable Legends gets 4 player co-op and villain mode. Beta coming this holiday, game out in 2015.
  • Conker is now in Project Spark because making an actual Conker game is too much to ask for at this point.
  • Tomb Raider 2 gets a title and a trailer. Rise of the Tomb Raider coming in 2015.
  • The Division will getting Xbox One exclusive content. New trailer shows some story material. Single player campaign possibly inbound?
  • Star Wars Battlefront alpha footage shown from EA. More info coming in early 2015 though. This is just to hype it.
  • The Sims 4 is out on September 9th, 2014.
  • Bruce Lee showcased for UFC 15. Out on June 17th.
  • NHL 15 out on September 9th.
  • PGA Tour 15 doesn’t include Tiger Woods this year, instead you get to golf while battleship explode around you. No joke.
  • Madden NFL 15 out on August 26th.
  • Mirror’s Edge 2 will focus more on Faith and reveal her motives. No gameplay shown yet, but probably coming in 2015.
  • Battlefield Hardline’s beta is only on PS4 and out now. I would say go check it out, but it’s probably gone.
  • Far Cry 4 out on November 11th. The game has 2 player co-op and also the ability to invite a friend to play even if they don’t own a copy of the game. That’s only on PS4 though.
  • The Crew is coming on November 11tth as well. New missions and challenges were added in due to fan feedback. Looks awesome.
  • Valiant Hearts shown again. Coming on June 25th.
  • Destiny open beta in July on PS4, closed beta has started. White PS4 system bundle will also launch with the game on September 9th.
  • InFamous: Second Son DLC coming in August. Titled First Light, you play as Fetch and play her story. Cool thing to note, you do not need Second Son to play this downloadable chapter.
  • Diablo III on PS4 features a dungeon with The Last of Us enemies.
  • Hulk is a PlayStation timed exclusive figure for Disney Infinity 2.0.
  • No Man’s Sky shown again. Looks amazing again. Coming 2015 as a timed PS4 exclusive.
  • The Last of Us Remastered coming on July 29th.
  • Batman: Arkham Knight has PS4 exclusive Scarecrow Nightmare Missions.
  • Uncharted PS4 is now Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End. Possible last Uncharted game. Coming in 2015.
  • Mii Fighter, Palutena, and Pac-Man all announced for Super Smash Bros. for 3DS and Wii U.
  • New footage for Zelda Wii U shown. More open than ever before. Looks really good. Coming in 2015.
  • Pokémon OmegaRuby and AlphaSapphire will be out on November 21st.
  • Bayonetta 2 will have Nintendo themed costumes and come with the first game included on the disc. Out this October.
  • Hyrule Warriors gets 2 player co-op, adds Zelda and Midna as playable characters, and comes out on September 26th.
  • Project X is now Xenoblade Chronicles X. Now coming out in 2015.

 

Next up we have some new games that were announced at the show:

  • Dance Central Spotlight announced for Xbox One. Download only.
  • Ori and the Blind Forest announced for Xbox One. New indie game. Looks interesting.
  • Halo: The Master Cheif Collection announced and dated for November 11th. Halo 1-4, all 1080p, all 60 fps, all multiplayer maps from each game included, access to new digital show Halo: Nightfall, and beta access for Halo 5: Guardians. Oh and did I mention 4000 cheevo points. Dang!
  • Inside announced for Xbox One. New game from Playdead Studios, the guys that made Limbo. Looks like it will be the same type of game as Limbo too.
  • Phantom Dust remake announced for Xbox One. Don’t worry if you’ve never heard of it, we haven’t either.
  • Scalebound announced for Xbox One. Platinum Games’ exclusive title for Microsoft.
  • New Crackdown announced for Xbox One. Probably not coming until 2016.
  • New IP is coming from Bioware. That’s all we know.
  • Criterion Games announces new IP, doesn’t name it, so we did. Introducing Go Pro the Game.
  • Just Dance 2015 announced. Who didn’t see this coming.
  • Just Dance Now announced. Basically Just Dance for mobile phones.
  • Shape Up! announced. New, and really annoying, fitness game.
  • Rainbow Six: Siege announced. Like Hardlines, it focusses on cops vs. criminals, maybe even doing a better job at it. Also so good it made Aisha Tyler cry.
  • Entwined announced and released for PS4. Weird looking dragon fish thing game.
  • LittleBigPlanet 3 announced for PS4. New characters to help Sackboy. Media Molecule not involved. Coming in November.
  • From Software showed Bloodborne. A Souls game in all but name. Coming to PS4.
  • Dead Island 2 announced. Doesn’t take place on an island… because California isn’t an island. Exclusive beta and character on PS4.
  • Magika 2: Learn to Spell Again! announced for PS4.
  • Grim Fandango being remastered on PS4.
  • Let It Die announced for PS4 from Suda 51.
  • AbZu announced for PS4. Giant Squid’s first game.
  • PS TV announced for US release.
  • Ratchet and Clank 1 remake coming in early 2015 to tie in with the movie.
  • Grand Theft Auto V announced for PS4/Xbox One/PC.
  • NFC figures announced for Nintendo games like Smash Bros., Mario Kart 8, and Mario Party 10. Called Amiibo.
  • Nintendo accidentally announces Mario Party 10 for Wii U when talking about Amiibo.
  • Yoshi: Wooly World announced for Wii U. Looks a lot like Kirby’s Epic Yarn. Has 2 player co-op. Coming 2015.
  • Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker announced for Wii U. Play exactly like the bonus levels on Super Mario 3D World. Coming Holiday 2014.
  • Kirby and the Rainbow Curse announced for Wii U. Coming 2015.
  • Mario Maker announced for Wii U. Make your own Mario levels. Coming in 2015.
  • Splatoon announced for Wii U. Capture territory with ink, turn into a squid. Coming 2015.
  • Star Fox project announced for Wii U. Coming when Miyamoto is done with it.

 

Lastly, news that missed the show, but popped up elsewhere:

  • Final Fantasy Type-0 HD announced. Coming to PS4 and Xbox One “soon”.
  • Final Fantasy Agito announced for western release. Mobile phone prequel to Type-0. Coming soon to iOS and Android.
  • Final Fantasy VII G-Bike coming to iOS and Android. Golden Saucer mini-games now on mobile phones!
  • Code Name: S.T.E.A.M. announced for 3DS. Strategy game with Abraham Lincoln and monsters or something.
  • Shin Megmai Tensai X Fire Emblem is on track.
  • Fossil Fighters: Frontier coming to 3DS.
  • Final Fantasy Explorers announced for 3DS. Rumored to be like Monster Hunter.
  • Dragon Quest XI is in development and will be on home consoles.
  • Final Fantasy XIV could come to Xbox One if Microsoft allows cross-play. Also now allows same-sex marriage.
  • Nintendo is planning a future for both 2D and 3D Metroid game types.
  • Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris announced. Sequel to Guardian of Light.
  • Sony says they’ll tell us if The Last Guardian is cancelled. So don’t listen to IGN anymore.
  • Kingdom Hearts HD II.5 ReMix is coming on December 2nd.
