Notable Software Releases: Week of 4/4 – 4/10

April 7th, 2010 -

This week… there can be… ONLY ONE!!!

– Xbox 360/PC –
This week sees the release of the Borderlands Double Game Add-On Pack which includes two of the three released DLC chapters for the game. The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned and Mad Moxxi’s Underdome Riot are the two included, and since I won’t do the description justice, I’ve invited Jason to do this notable. Jason, take it away.

Being the Borderlands fanatic that I am, I bought all of these as soon as they came out on the PSN. I can honestly say that if you liked the game at all, these are better. First off, the Zombie Island of Dr. Ned takes place in a demented island of… well… zombies, obviously. Several new enemies appear in this DLC, all containing BRAINS!! If you get a critical headshot, that is. The dialog in this DLC outshines everything seen in the main game, and is worth the ten dollars on that merrit alone. Doing all the missions makes the DLC last about 4 or 5 hours. The settings are beautiful, the music is haunting, and the sounds the zombies make are humorous for quite some time. A very likable addition to the game.

Mad Moxxi brings a new twist to the game… if you liked Old Haven (more of a shoot out part of the game), this will be for you. It’s an arena battle. Not like the multiplayer ones that are in it, but more of a… Smash TV in 3D. If you have friends with the game, this is a great addition to the gameplay. Alone it’s extremely challenging depending on which class you are. Each enemy is the same level as the host of the game, so it can either be very difficult, moderate, or easy. You basically get to choose. Downside: no experience for the battles. Upside: Crazy battles, new environments, continued humor. Amongst the mass amounts of weapons dropped each battle, there is a sort of bank section where you can store your equipment (maybe stuff that isn’t that great, but you don’t want to sell). If you like more of an arcade style shooter, which the game originally wasn’t, you’ll enjoy this.

I highly suggest both if you have the game, as both are well worth the time and money you’ll invest. You should also add me if you happen to play it on the PS3 (which doesn’t get this disc release if you didn’t know). Username: Leonhearfs
