Seems like forever since I’ve done one of these, but I’m back for this week’s Notable Software. There’s a couple of high profile titles this week so let’s jump right in…
Coming to the Wii this week is Red Steel 2, a sequel to the original 2006 launch title for the system. The game, from developer Ubisoft, has been receiving a lot of positive buzz from lots of gaming sites. It boasts improved controls (using the Wii Motion Plus), as well as a new cell shaded look for the series. The story takes place in a high-tech metropolis in the desert and revolves around the main character’s struggle to claim revenge for his fallen clan.
WarioWare D.I.Y. comes out for the DS this week and with it a slew of penis based mini-games. No really, type in this game title on Youtube and you’ll see what I’m talking about. Basically as the title implies, it is a do it yourself WarioWare title. The game (or should I say game maker) lets you build mini-games from the ground up with a whole creation system geared towards the same zany humor it’s predecessors offered. An added feature for the DSi user is the ability to use your pictures taken from the system’s cameras and utilize them in your creations. GO NOW! Have lots of fun making random stuff!
Xbox 360/PlayStation 3/PC:
Just Cause 2 hits this week and as Ryan’s first impressions below indicate, this game has balls crazy action that James Bond himself would be jealous of in the most extreme cases. Being the sequel to a less than stellar game, Just Cause 2 apparently fixes a lot of the issues that plagued the first game. Oh, I almost forgot to tell you what the game is about. Right, so Just Cause 2 is a third person shooter/sandbox game that lets you go anywhere and do anything you want. So if you’re a fan of GTA or anything similar, you’ll like this. Plus, it’s always fun to watch a car explode when you bail out of it!
