Notable Software: 1/17 – 1/23

January 17th, 2010 -

It’s a slow week for releases, but that’s to be expected with a lot of AAA titles in the coming weeks. Let’s jump right in to this week’s notables.

-Nintendo DS-
Starting off with this new DS exclusive RPG, Glory of Heracles. Developed by Paon and published by Nintendo, this is the first entry in the series being brought to the States. Being the fifth game in the popular franchise, the game tells the story of a boy who wakes up on a mysterious island with no memory of how he got there, nor even who he is. He soon meets a group of people who, like him, turn out to be immortal. The group then sets out on an epic journey to find the answers they seek about themselves all the while encountering mythic beasts and legendary people from Greek mythology.
-PlayStation 2/PlayStation Portable-
Going back a month to the week of 12/06/2009, Silent Hill: Shattered Memories is finally being released for PS2 and PSP. Developed by Climax Group and published by Konami, this game is a re-telling of the original game released on PSOne oh so long ago. For the full description of the game hit the date above.
-Xbox 360/PlayStation 3/PC-
Finally we come to Dark Void, a game developed by Airtight Games and published by Capcom. In the game you play as William Grey, a cargo pilot who crashes in the Bermuda Triangle and winds up in a parallel universe. There he meets other people who have been stuck in this universe and are forced to do the bidding of an alien race known as the Watchers. Will and the other Survivors must fight for their freedom, and with the help of none other than Nikola Tesla (sadly not played by David Bowie), ultimately find their way home.

That’s all for this week. Stay tuned this week for another edition of Notable Downloadables as well as a new piece from yours truly. Have a good Monday people, I know I won’t.
