FFoP E3 2014 Predictions Recap

August 1st, 2014 -

It’s that time of the year again when we put on our Nostradamus hats and attempt to predict the events of this year’s E3 Press Conferences. Will Final Fantasy VII finally get announced? Will Microsoft reverse the reversal from last year? Will Nintendo kiss and make up with EA? Who knows? We knows, or at least we think that we knows.

  • Final Fantasy VII (because, why not?)

Too soon, Junior.

  • F-Zero Wii U

Nope, did you not get F-Kart?

  • The Xbox One officially becomes the Xbox 180º (all 2013 system announcements get flipped)

Microsoft acknowledges its mistakes from last year by thanking “the fans for shaping the future of  Xbox.” Talks Games, games, games and little to no talk about TV, glass, kinect or anything from last year. The Xbox One is now officially the Xbox 180º.

  • Sony plays it safe, teases new things, but only shows stuff we’ve already seen.

Most of what Sony showed had already been announced or was an HD remake. Teased Uncharted 4.

  • Some kind of Street Fighter announcement at Sony’s Conference.

Um, Ultra Street Fighter IV was announced to be an early PlayStation Now title? Could explain the Mad Katz fightstick support for PS4?

  • Criterion announces a new Burnout game for next gen at EA.

Nope, it’s a new IP. With no name…

  • Star Wars 1313 is shown, back in production at a new studio.

EA said Star Wars titles are in the works, but only showed Battlefront.

  • Ubisoft has nothing like Watch_Dogs and The Division this year.

While they did show Rainbow Six (which looks cool), nothing as earth shattering as Watch_Dogs or The Division.

  • Assassins Creed Unity PS4 bundle for holiday 2014.

Nope. Denstiny bundle. That was a bit of a surprise.

  • New 3D Mario game like Galaxy in 2015.

No new Mario game.

  • No FFXV, as in it won’t even be at E3 – delayed

Half correct. FFXV not at E3. No delay yet but, because it’s likely we’ll give full credit.

  • Persona 5 footage (hopefully at Sony when they do the inevitable “still developing for PS3″ bit.)

Unfortunately not.

  • New Borderlands will be shown off

They showed Destiny, does that count? … No.

  • Phil Spencer blows his M$ load

Um, lol. He was quite excited about games? So, yes? Technically?

  • Nintendo announces X is Xenogears 2

Xenoblade Chronicles X is not Xenogears 2, unfortunately.

  • Bonus: Capcom does something with my beloved Mega Man or Breath of Fire

Silly Jason, Capcom hates you, remember?

  • Fallout 4 announcement?

  • Doom 4 (Doom) gameplay footage

Just teasers.

  • Star Wars Battlefront gameplay footage

Pre-Alpha footage. Skates by on a technicality.

  • Mortal Kombat announcement?

Pre-E3, but sure.

  • MS shows crazy amounts of games and doesn’t talk about the console at all / Sony talks about the power of the PS4 hardware, subtle dig at MS

Nothing but games from MS, what console? / Numbers are important to Sony, more than one dig. Sony’s been saucey lately.

  • Beyond Good and Evil 2 – X1 exclusive, with footage

Nope. File this one with The Last Guardian.

  • Halo 1-4 collection or H2 Anniversary –  Nov 2014.

  • Fantasia pushed hard.

Um, Fantasia was announced but, it was hardly pushed at all. In fact, they kinda skipped over Harmonix?

  • Zelda Wii U & Metroid Prime U

Yes, No.

  • Eternal Darkness sequel

  • MKX (Mortal Kombat X) shown off

Pre-E3, but sure.

  • Something RARE from MS

Well, it depends on how you define “something” and “RARE.” Conker is in Project Spark? So, yes?

  • Uncharted 4 teased

Pre-render trailer at the end of a conference? Tease Confirmed.

  • The Last Guardian – PS4 2015

Nope, because Sony is a bunch of trolls.

  • (Bonus) Chrono Trigger 2

I’m not sure if Square Enix is even here…

  • Final Fantasy XV will be given a world wide launch date of September 30th 2014, but will ultimately be delayed until March 2015.

Not even at E3. TGS? Maybe.

  • Kingdom Hearts III will be given a launch window of Fall 2015.

Not even at E3 TGS? Likely.

  • Kingdom Hearts II.5 HD ReMix will be out this fall and cost $60, but will now also include Dream, Drop, Distance in HD as a playable title.

Pre-E3, but sure.

  • Both Kingdom Hearts HD ReMixes will be announced for PS4 and X1, one to collect all the games on 1 system, two to give Xbox owners the chance to catch up on story for III.

Would be ideal, but no.

  • Halo 1-4 Remaster for X1 will become official and remasters of Reach and ODST will follow it in a different collection.

Yes and probably, but no comment on Reach/ODST. Passed for probability of the latter prediction.

  • Majora’s Mask will be announced for 3DS and be out this Fall, this will be a title for those who are waiting for Zelda U.

No waiting, we’re going straight to Wii U Zelda.

  • Zelda U will be shown off more, a title will be giving, but won’t be out until Fall 2015.

Zelder Scrolls shown and coming 2015 (probably fall.)

  • God of War IV will be announced, will feature a different main protagonist and different set of gods (Roman or Egyptian).

Would be a nice break in pace, but no God of War yet.

  • EA will show off Star Wars 1313, made by Visceral.

EA said Star Wars titles are in the works, but only showed Battlefront.

  • Ubisoft will continue its Watch Dogs and The Division-esque paranoia promos for a new game and blow us all away again.

Rainbow Six did not send shock waves throughout the industry like the two aforementioned games did.

  • Assassin’s Creed Comet will become official and be out for current and last gen systems this Fall, except for Wii U, because they don’t care anymore.

Nope, maybe Gamescom?

  • Nintendo will tease new hardware to get everyone talking, allude to Fusion system, integrated ecosystem with gaming.

Too soon, Junior

  • That Pokémon Delta Emerald trademark will be confirmed and Nintendo will launch it alongside Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire this Nov. 3 Pokémon games! Crazy!

Half credit?
