Grab and Go with Grabbles

March 19th, 2015 -

Are you looking for a multiplayer-heavy game for your Xbox One? Are there times when you are alone but still want to play a game? Do you like 2D platformers in the vein of Super Meat Boy, or controls that are limited to twin sticks and a trigger? Well, have I got a game for you.

Grabbles

Grabbles was described to me as “Spider-Man meets Super Meat Boy meets Samurai Gunn,” which seems like it’d be hard to not enjoy. If you’re wondering how that description applies to the game, checkpoints are VERY common (think SMB level length) and swinging/throwing mechanics with your stretchy appendages are the basis of gameplay in a super quick multiplayer environment.

All movement of the Grabble is created via the appendages that you control, so that Sonic momentum shot at the beginning of the trailer was created from an appendage launch. As mentioned previously, in addition to using the appendages to propel a Grabble, they’ll also be used for throwing objects, as is the case with boss fights. Aside from that, there’s not a whole lot to discuss about the game, other than it’s simple to pick-up, difficult to master, and fun to play with a group of people.
